Secondary Psychology & English Teacher at Anglo Singapore International School, Bangkok
Anglo Singapore International School is looking for a dedicated and intellectually driven Secondary Psychology and English Teacher to join its growing secondary team at the Sukhumvit 64 campus in Bangkok, Thailand, on a full-time basis.
Job Description
This dual-subject role sits at the heart of the school’s Cambridge programme, requiring a teacher who is equally at home with the science of human behaviour and the craft of language and literature. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons in Psychology and English that align with the Cambridge Secondary, IGCSE, and A Level curricula.
- Teaching psychological theories, research methods, critical analysis, language development, literary interpretation, and examination technique.
- Developing students’ skills in constructing well-supported arguments, evaluating research studies, and communicating effectively — both in writing and orally.
- Fostering advanced reading, independent research, discussion, and extended writing across both disciplines.
- Preparing students thoroughly for internal assessments and external Cambridge examinations, covering essays, source-based questions, structured responses, and extended writing tasks.
- Tracking and monitoring student progress through data, informing differentiation strategies and targeted academic support.
- Providing timely, constructive feedback that drives continuous improvement.
- Contributing to departmental curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and consistency of academic standards.
- Supporting co-curricular activities related to the subjects — such as debating societies, writing competitions, psychology clubs, or enrichment events.
- Maintaining a disciplined, intellectually engaging classroom that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and academic integrity.
- Communicating openly with students, parents, and colleagues about progress and expectations, and upholding school safeguarding and professional conduct policies.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Psychology, English, Education, or a closely related field.
- A recognised teaching qualification — QTS, PGCE, or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of secondary teaching experience in Psychology and/or English; international school or Cambridge-specific experience is strongly preferred.
- Solid working knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE Psychology syllabus and Cambridge English curricula, including assessment objectives and mark schemes.
- Confidence delivering content across psychological research methods, data interpretation, essay writing, literary analysis, language skills, and critical evaluation.
- Strong classroom management, organisational ability, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A genuine commitment to academic excellence, professional development, and student achievement.
