Job Description
The successful teacher will deliver engaging Design and Technology / STEM lessons across the secondary age and ability range — stretching the most academically capable students while providing targeted support for those who find the subject more challenging. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering high-quality lessons that reflect PBISS’s commitment to impactful teaching, differentiated instruction and innovative curriculum development.
- Following the school’s assessment and reporting policies, maintaining accurate records and attending parents’ meetings as required.
- Tutoring groups of varying sizes, taking a genuine interest in pupils’ academic progress and overall well-being.
- Contributing to the co-curricular life of the school — including enrichment activities, educational development initiatives and pastoral care programmes — as agreed with the leadership team.
- Supporting interventions for individual students or groups, and assisting with internal examinations and outreach activities where appropriate.
- Pursuing continuous professional development in conjunction with the school’s leadership team.
- Upholding PBISS’s safeguarding policy and maintaining strict confidentiality regarding the intellectual property, privacy and work of all school stakeholders.
Requirements
PBISS is looking for a reflective, motivated classroom practitioner who brings both subject expertise and a genuine passion for student-centred learning. Candidates should meet the following criteria:
- A good honours degree (2:1 or above) and/or a further postgraduate degree in a directly related subject area.
- Demonstrable subject knowledge capable of delivering engaging STEM/Design and Technology lessons across the secondary age and ability range.
- A shared belief in PBISS’s holistic vision of education and enthusiasm for co-curricular and pastoral involvement.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues, students and parents.
- A solid commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in the classroom.
- Openness to innovation in teaching and learning, including a variety of assessment and differentiation approaches.
- Good ICT competence and willingness to integrate technology meaningfully into lessons.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a positive, adaptable attitude and a good sense of humour.
