Head of Secondary English & Social Studies at Anglo Singapore International School, Bangkok

Anglo Singapore International School is looking for a highly capable and experienced educational leader to take on the role of Head of Secondary English & Social Studies at its Bangkok campus. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary of up to ฿85,000 per month.

This role is ideally suited to educators with a strong academic foundation in English — particularly those well-versed in the Cambridge IGCSE English curriculum — and a proven ability to support students from diverse linguistic backgrounds, including English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners. Reporting to the Secondary Principal, the successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to advance curriculum quality, teaching standards, and student achievement across the secondary years.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for high-quality teaching and learning in Secondary English, encompassing curriculum design, assessment frameworks, moderation, and academic standards.
• Demonstrate deep expertise in the Cambridge IGCSE English curriculum, covering both First Language English (FLE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) pathways.
• Ensure smooth progression and coherence across English pathways, supporting students as they transition between ESL, FLE, and mainstream English courses.
• Guide and support teaching staff in applying effective strategies for EAL learners, maintaining high academic expectations throughout.
• Oversee the Lower Secondary Social Studies programme, providing coherent coverage of History and Geography to strengthen students’ literacy, analytical thinking, and global awareness.
• Partner with the curriculum leadership team to review and update programmes of study in line with Cambridge requirements and school policies.
• Contribute actively to CIS accreditation processes, ensuring subject documentation and classroom practice meet required standards and support ongoing school improvement.
• Champion safeguarding principles, ensuring policies are consistently upheld and student wellbeing remains a central priority.
• Mentor and develop teachers through coaching, structured lesson observations, and professional learning conversations.
• Use student progress data to inform teaching approaches, targeted interventions, and curriculum adjustments.
• Engage productively with parents on matters relating to curriculum content, assessment outcomes, and individual student progress.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• A Bachelor’s Degree in English, Education, or a closely related discipline is required; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
• A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, PGCE, or an internationally equivalent credential.
• At least 3 years of experience teaching Secondary English, ideally within an international or Cambridge-aligned school environment.
• Solid working knowledge of Cambridge IGCSE English First Language and English as a Second Language.
• Demonstrated experience supporting EAL students at secondary level.
• Prior leadership experience as a Head of Department or in a comparable role is strongly desirable.
• Familiarity with curriculum development processes and international accreditation requirements; CIS experience is a distinct advantage.
• A genuine and clear commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of all students.
