EAP & Business English Teacher at Shanghai Ocean University, Pudong – 20,000 RMB/month

The AIEN Institute at Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) is actively recruiting passionate EAP and Business English educators for the 2026/27 academic year, based in the Lingang area of Pudong New District, Shanghai. This is a full-time university-level position within a celebrated joint-venture institution with a 24-year track record of academic excellence.

Job Description

As a core member of the AIEN Institute teaching team, you will deliver intensive language instruction to approximately 750 first- and second-year undergraduate students enrolled in SHOU’s dual bachelor’s degree programme — a collaboration between Shanghai Ocean University and the University of Tasmania, Australia.

• Teach English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to first-year students and English for Occupational Purposes (EOP) to second-year students, covering employability, leadership, intercultural communication, entrepreneurship, and corporate field research
• Contribute to curriculum development, student assessment design, and ongoing programme enhancement
• Provide detailed written and verbal feedback to support individual student growth
• Coach and mentor approximately 270 students preparing for public speaking, debate, and national/international skills competitions
• Participate in departmental meetings, extracurricular activities, and community-building initiatives
• Deliver coursework aligned with China’s “Double First Class” academic initiative where relevant
• Candidates with Engineering/ICT or Marketing/Business backgrounds may also contribute to the Institute’s transnational education (TNE) programme components

Requirements

Eligible nationalities: Due to Chinese work-permit regulations, only citizens of Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, and South Africa may be considered.

• Education: Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English, Education, Business, Communications, or a closely related field
• Certification: TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certification (minimum 120 hours)
• Experience: At least two years of teaching at university or adult level
• Exceptional interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary teaching team
• Strong academic writing and student feedback capabilities
• Ability to manage teaching, grading, and special projects simultaneously with close attention to detail

Desirable additional skills (for TNE component applicants):

• Prior qualifications or credentials in Engineering/ICT and/or Marketing/Business
• Previous teaching or professional experience in applied ICT and/or Marketing/Business contexts
