This is a full-time leadership role based in Shanghai, China, at one of the city’s most respected international schools.
Job Description
The Middle School Assistant Principal will play a central role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of middle school students at Concordia Shanghai. Working closely with the principal and instructional teams, this leader will help foster a positive school culture, uphold high educational standards, and guide both students and faculty toward meaningful learning outcomes.
- Assist the Middle School Principal in day-to-day school operations and strategic planning
- Provide instructional leadership and support curriculum delivery across the middle school division
- Mentor and evaluate teaching staff, supporting professional growth and development
- Oversee student discipline, well-being, and pastoral care programmes
- Collaborate with department heads, counsellors, and families to ensure a supportive learning environment
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives, accreditation processes, and community engagement
Requirements
- Proven experience in school leadership, preferably at the middle or secondary level
- A strong background in classroom teaching, ideally within an international or bilingual school setting
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop teachers and support staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in education or educational leadership preferred
- Experience working in an international school environment is an advantage
