Debate & University Guidance Specialist at Anglo Singapore International School Bangkok

Anglo Singapore International School’s Sukhumvit 64 Campus in Bangkok is looking for a passionate and experienced educator to fill a unique hybrid role combining competitive debate coaching with university admissions guidance, with a start date of August/September 2026.

Job Description

This position sits within the school’s Academic & Career Service (ACS) department and carries two interconnected pillars of responsibility: building a high-performing debate programme and empowering students to craft compelling university applications.

Debate Training & Programme Development

• Coach the School Debate Team and Debate CCA students at all levels.
• Design and deliver annual training plans, learning resources, and competition preparation cycles.
• Mentor students in motion analysis, case construction, public speaking, and tournament strategy.
• Coordinate inter-school tournaments, team selections, and ongoing communication with parents.

University Guidance

• Lead workshops, small-group seminars, and one-to-one consultations on personal statements, statements of purpose, and portfolio development.
• Provide detailed, constructive written feedback to help students produce standout university applications.
• Collaborate closely with ACS counsellors to ensure consistency and alignment across the application process.

Camps & Overseas Trips

• Support the planning and delivery of selected residential camps and overseas educational trips coordinated by the ACS.
• Liaise with external partners, uphold safety protocols, and anchor activities to clear learning objectives.

Professional Collaboration

• Maintain accurate student records and track individual progress throughout the year.
• Participate actively in ACS events, university fairs, departmental meetings, and professional development sessions.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and high professional standards.
• Show flexibility in supporting weekend and evening events when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required; a postgraduate qualification or formal teaching credential is preferred.
• Strong background in competitive debating — experience with WSDC, British Parliamentary (BP), or comparable formats is essential.
• Demonstrated experience coaching debate teams and supporting students through university application processes.
• Prior involvement in educational camps, overseas school trips, or international school environments is an advantage.
• Excellent written communication skills, particularly for personal statement and application writing guidance.
• Student-centred mindset with strong organisational ability, cultural sensitivity, and the capacity to inspire and motivate young learners.
• Calm, reflective disposition with a genuine commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.
