ESL Teacher – Sino-US High School Program in Zhengzhou, 18K RMB + Housing in China

No. 7 High School — one of the top-5 ranked high schools in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province — is seeking an experienced native-English-speaking ESL teacher to join its Sino-US Program. All students in this program are in Grades 10–12 and are preparing to study at universities in the USA, Canada, or the UK.

Contract Details

• Contract start: 1 September 2026 (possibly October, subject to work permit processing), through end of June 2027, renewable by mutual agreement
• Maximum 18 teaching hours per week plus 5 office hours (student monitoring and support)
• Class sizes capped at 25 students; lessons are 80 minutes each (including a 10-minute break)
• Overtime compensated for hours exceeding 72 per month

Compensation & Benefits

• 18,000 RMB per month
• Individual furnished accommodation provided (not shared), approximately a 15-minute walk from school and near a subway station
• 10,000 RMB flight allowance
• Winter holiday paid in full

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine the course syllabus
• Design lesson plans and adapt teaching strategies to students’ English proficiency levels
• Maintain punctuality, diligence, and a student-centred approach at all times

Candidate Requirements

• Native English speaker
• Strong background in ESL; experience with TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson, or SAT preparation is an advantage
• Experience in study skills and/or academic English instruction preferred
• High school teaching experience strongly preferred
• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience at any level required to qualify for a Chinese work permit
• Degree certificate, passport photo page, a short 2-minute self-introduction video, and a CV/résumé required prior to interview
• A reference letter from a previous employer and a clean criminal record check are required upon job offer to process the work permit
